Crash claims lives of two Harrisburg men

Two Harrisburg men lost their lives last Tuesday from a single car accident just outside of town. Vernon R. Houston, 71 and Tommy L. McMasters, 41, both of Harrisburg, died in the crash. Local residents arrested/arraignments set

Two local residents were recently arrested and now await their arraignment dates. Leanna Burt, 23, of Lepanto was arrested for petition for revocation. A $5,000 bond was set for Burt, who will be arraigned October 15 in Lake City. Amanda Sue Heavener, 45, of Trumann was arrested fro possession of meth or cocaine greater than two grams but less than 10 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Poinsett County Quorum Court met in regular session on August 12 and heard updates on things going on in the county. Justice Larry Fowler gave the court an update on the next annex building project and told the members that they had a pre-bid meeting later that day. He said they expect to start taking bids for the project next week. Poinsett County Judge J.C. Carter discussed the handicap doors at the current annex building.
