Robert James “R.J.” Pitts Sr., 97, of Marked Tree departed this life on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, in Marked Tree. He was born on September 26, 1926, in Earle to Henry and Nora Ridding Pitts. R.J. served his country for two years in the United States Army and twenty-nine years in the Arkansas National Guard. Drew Tyler of Lepanto earned his bragging rights with is prize of a nine and a half foot, 200 pound alligator. The American alligator is like the ones found in the swamps of Louisiana. Marked Tree woman dies in crash

Amanda Phillips, 34, of Marked Tree died last Wednesday when her pickup collided head-on with a semi-truck in Crittenden County. The crash happened at 1:56 p.m. on Highway 42 at Tidwell Road in Heafer. Phillips was westbound when her 2009 Dodge Ram crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound Kenworth.
