Wreck in Poinsett County claims life Friday morning

Jordan T. Hunter, 31, of Ranier, Washington was killed this past Friday morning in a one-vehicle accident on Highway 1 in Poinsett County. Hunter crossed the center line to the left at Senteney Road before over-correcting to right and running off the road and overturning several times. A passenger in the truck, Daniel Nye, 54, of West Plains, Missouri was injured and taken to Regional One in Memphis to be treated for his injuries...

Local students earn degrees from Arkansas State

Arkansas State University has announced the list of students who completed degree requirements to graduate at Spring Commencement, held May 7 in Centennial Bank Stadium. The list includes graduates includes 52 students from Poinsett County. Carter wins in run-off election

J.C. Carter of Marked Tree came out 13 votes better than John K. Hutchison for the Republican bid in the Poinsett County Judge's race this past Wednesday. Carter received 438 votes with Hutchison getting 425 votes. There were 864 votes cast in the county. Carter will now face Independent Robert Hervey, Jr. in the November general election...

According to a recent list compiled by Stacker, Poinsett County ranks 45th out of the 50 counties in Arkansas with COVID-19 vaccinations. Data from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and COVID Act Now as of Jun. 23, 2022 were used.
