Mallory Hartley made her third all-state basketball team after a standout year at Trumann. Hartley, who made two Class 1A all-state teams at Bay, was chosen as a member of the Class 3A all-state team. Hartley averaged 18 points and eight rebounds a game in leading the Lady Wildcats to a 25-8 record advancing to the semi-finals of the Class 3A state tournament. ...

Trayvius Brown of Marked Tree filled the stat book each time the Indians took the floor this past season. For his efforts, Brown was chosen for the Class 2A all-state basketball team. Brown helped Marked Tree to a 24-6 record and the quarter-finals of the Class 2A state tournament averaging 15 points a game with 4.6 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.3 assists per game. ...

Trumann’s Ben Turner capped off his junior season with a selection to the Class 3A all-state basketball team. Turner also made the Class 4A all-state team last year. Turner, who is a junior, led the Wildcats to a 17-10 record averaging 20.1 points and 10.7 rebounds a game this past season after having knee surgery in the off-season. ...

SOUTHAVEN - Mr. John Charles Gunter, of Southaven, Miss., born on Aug. 17, 1938, in Palmdale, Calif., to the late Cecillia Franklin Gunter O'Dell and the late John M. Gunter, passed away on Feb. 22, 2019, in Southaven, Miss. at the age of 80. He was a member of Getwell Church in Southaven.
