A great play by Mallory Hartley and Sarah Blackman at the end of the girls Division I championship game gave Bay (15-3) a 50-49 win over Riverside (20-1) last Wednesday at First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro. The controversy surrounding the play was the time left on the clock and if the shot was made before the final buzzer sounded. Newport hit back to back three-pointers to take an early 6-0 lead before Harrisburg seven straight points as Zach Biggers scored off the break, Weston Stanford got a steal and layup before hitting two free throws as Biggers hit a jumper in the lane to make it 7-6 Hornets with 4:30 left. ...

Down 13 in the fourth quarter, Bay made a valiant effort over the last four minutes but came up a little short at Tuckerman posted a 50-46 win over the Yellowjackets in quarter-finals action this past Monday in Swifton.
