Marked Tree (28-12) made it further than anybody thought they would this basketball season. The Indians squared off against Earle (30-5) in the state title match last Thursday in Hot Springs. The teams split their regular season games but Earle won the biggest as they defeated Marked Tree 81-62 for their second title in a row...

The Bay Lady Yellowjackets (33-9) made school history last Thursday evening in Hot Springs winning the first ever girls' basketball state title for the school. The Lady 'Jackets downed Wonderview (38-5) 40-35. Wonderview got back to back from Faith Byers on an inside basket and a steal and lay-up to take an early 4-0 lead. ...

Trumann High School Principal Michelle Waymire was on hand to speak to the Trumann Lions Club about some things that are going on at the high school last Wednesday at the club's weekly meeting. Assistant Principal Reilee Jones was also at the meeting...

Several awards were given out during the Marked Tree Chamber of Commerce's annual banquet. Among them, Police Chief Michael Matlock was named Police Officer of the Year. "I've done my best to be a bridge builder," Matlock said. "I try to bring people together and be a voice for those who can't speak."...
