Chaos captures tournament championship.

Harrisburg's Kylie DeVries signed her letter of intent to continue her basketball career with the University of the Ozarks Lady Eagles this past Friday in front of family and friends at the Harrisburg High School media center. DeVries, who has played point guard the last two years of the Lady Hornets, said it was a relief to finally get her future set. ...

The EPC Warriors (22-9) led from start to finish as they downed Foreman 69-46 in the their opening round game last Wednesday in the Class 2A state basketball tournament being played in Quitman. Xzavier Reed got EPC on the board first with a three-pointer as Foreman scored inside to make it 3-2 Warriors. ...

Marked Tree (22-10) held on for a 62-57 win over Cutter-Morning Star in one semi-final match-up of the Class 2A state basketball tournament this past Saturday to advance to the championship game to be played Thursday, March 9 in Hot Springs. The Indians will play defending state champion Earle with whom they split their two regular season games...

The 1A state basketball tournament brought highs and lows for Bay basketball last week. The high was the Bay Lady Yellowjackets (32-9) punching their ticket for the girls' finals becoming the first girls team from Bay to make the finals. The low was the Yellowjackets (26-14) falling to Marvell 74-51 in the second round dashing all hopes of a three-peat state championship...

The Harrisburg Lady Hornets (1-1-1) topped Riverside 19-6 in high school softball action this past Tuesday in Lake City. Ansley Wixson led Harrisburg with five hits and three RBIs. Keely Curtis had four hits and two RBIs, Jessica Webb had three hits and three RBIS, Melanie Jackson had two hits and a RBI, Starr Carter had two hits, Jehlian Wright had two RBIs as Sidney McMullin and Caitlyn Adams each had a RBI...

Harley Daniels struck out 13 batters as Marked Tree (1-0) withstood a seventh-inning rally from Palestine-Wheatly to post a 6-3 win their season opener in Marked Tree. The Lady Patriots took advantage of a walk, hit batter and an error to plate a run in the top of the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead. ...
