Northeast Arkansas fishing report

Lake Poinsett is still low but the fishermen are having fun bringing in the bream and crappie. No reports have been made if any bass or catfish are being caught. Crown Lake reports the water has been clear and at normal level with surface temperatures between 68-70 degrees. Bream have been good on crickets as the crappie have been fair on minnows. The bass are hitting the jigs and the catfish are hitting goon on chicken livers and nightcrawlers...

Trumann ousted by Dumas in state football playoffs

Trumann (7-4) couldn't find an answer for the Dumas ground game this past Friday in the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs at Wildcat Stadium. The Bobcats rushed for 265 yards on their way to a 30-15 win that ended the Wildcats' season. Dumas received the ball first after Trumann deferred to the second half and promptly put together a 74 yard touchdown drive ending in a short run for the score to take a 6-0 lead. ...

The EPC Lady Warriors (1-0) opened their season with a 74-14 win over Kipp Blytheville Collegiate this past Monday in girls' basketball. Bre Ward scored 16 points to lead five EPC players in double figures. EPC (1-0) had eleven player contribute points as the Warriors cruised to a 67-17 win over Kipp Blytheville Collegiate in high school boys basketball action this past Friday in Lepanto. EPC came out hitting on all cylinders racing out to an 11-0 lead in the first two and half minutes of the game. ...
