The Marked Tree Chamber of Commerce decided to proceed with the shop local campaign at their monthly meeting Tuesday. Chamber president Brittney Smallwood had several samples of signs for those to attendance to vote on for. The signs will go in front businesses prompting citizens to "Love Where You Live--Shop Local." The group picked the one they liked best, and the signs will be ordered. ...

Last week, the staff of Columbia Forest Products celebrated the facility's 30th year in Trumann with a cookout at the Community House. Columbia Forest Products is employee-owned, and the Trumann location employs close to 100 people. According to plant manager Rick Hammers, the Trumann facility will ship enough plywood this year that, if put end to end, it would measure 2,100 miles...

Cherry Thompson, Chief Operating Office of East Arkansas Family Health Center (EAFHC), was the guest speaker last week for the Trumann Lions Club. Loretta Hodge, with the Trumann Family Health Center, was also present to assist Thompson. Thompson has been with EAFHC for 11 years, having worked as the HIV/AIDS Program Manager for six and a half years before taking over as the COO. "Not many can go to work and make a positive impact on lives. I get to do that every day," Thompson said...

For the last few years, the Marked Tree School District has received several awards for outstanding educational performance from the Office for Education Policy. This year is no different as High School Principal Matt Wright informed the Marked Tree School Board this week the district has racked up 12 OEP awards for the 2015-2016 school year...
