State Representative Wes Wagner thanked the Trumann City Council at its monthly meeting on Tuesday, August 12, after hearing how the council is working on beautification and revitalization in the city with the help of a $30,000 grant. Debbie Cook announced recently she is running for mayor of Trumann. A Trumann native, Cook describes herself as the only homegrown girl running for mayor. Cook has served on the city council for two years and said she hopes to "bring pride back into the town, clean it up, and make it a better and safer place for our children."...

Last month, the Marked Tree City Council discussed the possibility of revising the fireworks ordinance to limit the times fireworks may be shot after receiving complaint over the July 4th holiday. This fall, ASUN-Marked Tree will begin offering a 12 month Surgical Technology Program. The program director, and Marked Tree High School alumnus, Chris Madden recently spoke to the Marked Tree Rotary Club. Madden, who still works at St. Bernards as a surgical technologist, said ASUN's Surgical Tech program at the Newport campus graduated 18 students this year, 16 of whom were employed before graduation. ...
