Nine area athletes have been named to All-State teams in their respective sports. There were four baseball and five softball players selected. One area coach was also named to the All-Star coaching staff. On the baseball side, Trumann's Nate Maxwell was named to the Class 4A team, Caleb Harston of EPC and Blake Daniels of Marked Tree were named to Class 2A team and Grant Johnson of Weiner was named to the Class 1A team...

EPC super freshman Malik Monk has not had much of a break since the high school basketball season ended. Monk has been playing AAU ball and is preparing for the final tryouts for the USA 16U National Basketball Team. Monk will leave Tuesday, May 28 for Colorado Springs, Colorado where tryouts will begin May 30 and run through June 7. Mrs. Patricia Ann "Trisha" Whitsett, of Trumann died Sunday, May 26, 2013 at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro at the age of 46 years, 3 months and 26 days. She was born Tuesday, January 31, 1967 in Trumann to Carl Lee and Shirley Campbell Winkles. Trisha had lived most of her lifetime in the Trumann and Harrisburg area.
