William "Freezer" Thompson of Trumann was inducted into the ASWF wrestling Hall of Fame on April 6 in ceremonies held in Tuckerman. Thompson started wrestling in 1979 right out of high school. Trained by David and Don Oswald, Thompson has travelled all over the south wrestling for the last 34 years. Thompson was on Saturday morning wrestling a few times being broadcast from Memphis...

Harrisburg jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and went on to beat Pocahontas 8-5 in high school baseball action in Pocahontas this past Monday. Marked Tree (18-2, 11-1 2A-3) shut out Riverside 12-0 this past Monday in girls high school softball. Jay Perry and Peyton Carter each had three hits on the day for the Lady Indians. Poohnu Perry had two hits with three RBIs, Kelsey Pitts added two hits and Shelbi Knight had a hit and three RBIs...

Trumann's Lady Wildcats hosted Pocahontas this past Monday in a 4A-3 softball match up. Trumann jumped out to an early 2-1 lead then used back to back big innings to put the game out of reach. Two Trumann errors put runners on first and second for the Lady Redskins with one out before Hannah Walters struck out the next two batters to leave them stranded. ...

Trumann hosted the Manila Lions this past Friday for Senior Night at Wildcat Field. Nate Maxwell, Cameron Jones, Jay-Ryan Woods, Ashton Jones, Josh Evans, Dillin Vincent, Colt Collins and Matthew Montgomery played their last home high school baseball game. Manila played spoilers as they came away with a 3-1 win...

Jonesboro High School was the setting as 20 senior girls and 20 senior boys suited up for the Sun Classic basketball games this past Sunday. In the girls contest, Hannah Willard of Bay was named most valuable player after scoring 17 points and pulling down five rebounds as her white squad posted a 95-72 win. In the boys game, Darius Ivy of Marked Tree had 16 points and Tyson Oliver of Bay ended with 14 points as the blue team posted a 106-83 victory...

Tyson Oliver put his name on the dotted line and made it official to continue his career playing basketball as the two-time all-state standout signed with Philander Smith this past Monday at Bay High School. Coach Sam Weaver of Philander Smith said he got a call from long time coach Benny Harris and was told he might want to take a look at Oliver. Weaver did just that when the Yellowjackets played for the state title in Little Rock earlier this year...

Marked Tree's Poohnu Perry signed with University of Arkansas-Monticello this past Wednesday to continue her basketball career.

Allen Buchanan of Marked Tree signed his letter of intent to play basketball at Ouachita Baptist next season this past Wednesday.
