The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are investigating the shooting of a mature bald eagle near Highland in Pike County. The eagle was found west of the city along Arkansas Highway 26. A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information leading to a conviction of the person or persons responsible for killing the eagle...

Boys 1A-3 East Second-seeded Weiner posted a 68-53 win over Black Rock in the opening round of the 1A-3 East district tournament this past Monday being held in Bay. Brad Craft led four Cardinals in double digits with 15 points. Alex Jones scored 13 points, Drake Melton added 11 points and Alex Nicholson finished with 10 points...

The Trumann Lady Wildcats had their season come to end this past Monday night as they fell to Gosnell Lady Pirates 70-52 in the 4A-3 district tournament in Brookland. Gosnell opened the game with a 12-2 run on their way to a 17-6 first period. Morgan Taylor, Kali Bo Conaway and Taelor Gartman each scored a basket in the opening period for Trumann...

The Bay Lady Yellowjackets (20-8) hosted the Trumann Lady Wildcats this past Friday night as it was Senior Night at Bay. Bay honored Hannah Willard, Sara Sharp, Shelby Lynch, Jade Presley and Brianna Fletcher. The Lady 'Jackets led 15-9 after one, 37-18 at the half, 51-25 after three before going on to post a 66-30 victory...

Bay (32-4) honored seven seniors before their game with Trumann last Friday night. Tyson Oliver, Dylan Loven, Zack Johnson, Matt Holt, Kail Harris, Dylan Rush and Jake Martin played their last regular season game as they handed the Wildcats a 77-58 loss...

Seventh-seeded Trumann (8-17) and sixth-seeded Valley View met in the first round of the 4A-3 district tournament being held in Brookland this past Monday night. Valley View led 14-10 after one, 25-23 at halftime and 36-35 at then end of three before the Wildcats used a 24-15 final period to post a 59-51 win and advance to round two of the tournament...

Colton and Morgan Turner of Trumann are spending their first Valentine's Day as a married couple after a hard turn of events within this last year. The Turners recently married on Dec. 22. Their original wedding plans were set for August of 2012, but a near fatal accident in June left Morgan unconscious for three weeks postponing their plans to marry...
