The EPC Warriors remained perfect on the season as they downed McCrory 20-6 this past Friday night. The Warriors' record stands at 6-0. Aaron Scales had a big night for EPC has he had a hand in all 20 points the Warriors scored. Scales connected with Tristan McDaniel on a 12-yard touchdown pass with 10 seconds left in the second quarter to give EPC a 7-0 lead at halftime. Scales broke loose for a 49-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter before finding Trevor McDaniel with a 24-yard touchdown pass with three minutes left in the game. Scales passed to his brother Byron Scales for the two-point conversion after the last touchdown. Aaron Scales finished the night with 101 yards rushing with a score and completed seven of 15 passes for 101 yards and two touchdown passes. Tristan McDaniel had 21 tackles on the night. Byron Scales added 10 tackles. Caleb Harston, Paul Pilgrim and Trent Barnes each recorded two sacks apiece. Pilgrim recovered to fumbles as well. Marked Tree reported no score or stats. Harrisburg reported no score or stats.

Thousands brave rain and cold for 82nd annual Terrapin Derby

Despite rain and cool weather, Lepanto hosted the 82nd annual Terrapin Derby on Saturday, Oct. 6. The Terrapin Derby is Arkansas' oldest continuous festival, beginning in 1930 with the American Legion as the sponsor. In Lepanto, the American Legion was charted in 1929 located in an old log building. According to Mayor Steve Jernigan, a fire in the building caused the Legion to begin looking for new fundraisers...

Wildcats fall to Pirates in make-up outing

Trumann travelled to Gosnell this past Monday to play their game that was postponed due to weather this past Friday. The Wildcats couldn't take advantage of numerous Gosnell turnovers losing 40-14. Trumann recovered a Gosnell fumble on the first play of the game to give the Wildcats the ball on the Pirates 47-yard line with 11:36 left in the opening quarter. ...

Junior Indians surge by Salem

Marked Tree's Junior Indians used a balanced offense to gain a 42-22 victory over the Salem Junior Greyhounds last Thursday in Marked Tree. Salem opened the game by recovering the onside kick. Salem put together a nice drive that ended in a one-yard touchdown run with 3:40 left in the opening quarter. The two-point pass play made the score 8-0 Salem. EPC's Clay Malone had a hand in all scoring as the Junior Warriors defeated Cedar Ridge 14-8 in junior high football action last Thursday. Malone finished the night with 83 yards rushing and two touchdowns. He also passed for 38 yards including a two-point conversion pass to Kyler Gordon.
