Lepanto man arrested for growing marijuana in garden (Local News ~ 06/15/12)
Ronald J. Sparling, 60, of 204 Neely St. in Lepanto was arrested June 5 after police found marijuana in his garden. According to Captain David Layman, the arrest followed an investigation into information that Sparling was allegedly growing marijuana in his garden. A lot of money was raised last week to benefit the Sims/Talbot Adult Training and Education Center as over 300 people from in town and out of state packed the Community House for Friday Night at the Show in Trumann. Jane Hurd, who was on the planning committee for the event, told the Trumann Rotary Club the day before the event that Friday Night at the Show was held in part to celebrate the Trumann Class of '62 reunion and to celebrate the generosity of Jerry Sims and his sister Patti Sims Swinford, who donated $250,000 toward the building of an adult education center in Trumann.. ... -
Tractor club rides through Lepanto (Local News ~ 06/15/12)
The Foothills Tractor and Engine Club from Pocahontas descended on Lepanto last weekend for their June tractor ride. They were joined by members of the Bono Antique Tractor Club for a ride that began at the Painted House in Lepanto. From there they rode to Rivervale and Bondsville before heading over to Dyess to see Johnny Cash's boyhood home before looping back to Lepanto for a wonderful bean dinner and tractor show...
