Chicago leagues forming

The Trumann Parks and Recreation are accepting teams for the new Chicago 16" softball leagues. This softball league is an alternative to regular adult softball leagues. They will have a spring Co-ed and Men's division. Games will start in mid April and will be played on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Participants can register as teams or as an individual. Honeycutt tosses shutout

Harrisburg downed Piggott 5-0 in high school boys' baseball behind Brayden Honeycutt's one hitter this past Monday in Harrisburg. Garrett Grubbs led Harrisburg at the plate with two hits, a RBI and a run scored. Ayson Lamb had two hits while Daniel Grubbs and Fisher Cox each had a hit, RBI and run scored. Honeycutt had 11 strikeouts on the day.

Wages leads Indians to win

Taylor Wages was strong on the mound and at the plate as Marked Tree (16-5) posted a 13-1 win over Armorel this past Monday in Armorel. Wages collected three hits on the day while driving in five runs and scoring three times. Brandon Adamson and Jagger McCrary both had two hits on the day with Adamson scoring two runs and McCrary had three RBIs. On the mound Wages allowed one run on three hits. He gave up two walks with six strikeouts.

Trumann falls to Lady Colts

Rivercrest's Lady Colts visited the Trumann Lady Wildcats for a girls' high school softball game this past Monday. Rivercest (14-5) got up early and cruised to a 7-1 win. Savannah Graham led off the game with a single and advanced to third when the ball got past the left fielder. Madison Bell plated Graham with a RBI sac fly to give the Lady Colts an early 1-0. Beall struck out four Lady Wildcats over the next three innings helping her team cling to the 1-0 lead. Her teammates gave her some breathing room in the top of the fourth scoring three runs to stretch the lead to 4-0. Bell started the inning with a walk before Chelsea Cooper reached on a bunt single. Beall knocked in Bell with an RBI single. Kelsie Wilson laid down a bunt single load the bases. Hanna Kirk's fielder's choice scored Cooper before pinch runner Alexis Graham scored the final run of the inning on an error. Beall walked to open the top half of the sixth inning. Cooper reached on a Trumann error that allowed pinch runner Alexis Graham to score and Cooper to advance to third. Cooper scored on a passed ball to push the Lady Colts lead to 6-0. Taylor Harston took over pitching for Rivercrest in the sixth inning. Hannah Walters singled to start Trumann's half of the sixth inning and took second when the left fielder had trouble with the ball. Macy Hicks singled and Walters scored on an error by Rivercrest to make the score 6-1. Bell walked to start the top of the seventh inning for Rivercrest. Cooper singled to put runners on first and second. Harston reached on a fielder's choice putting runners at corner with one out. Wilson singled to score Bell and set the final score at 7-1. Walters took the loss for Trumann going all seven innings giving up seven runs on seven hits. She struck out seven and walked three. Walters led Trumann offensively with two hits a run scored. Sammie Jo Williams, Julia Jones, Megan McGowan, Kelly Guthrie and Hicks all collected a hit a piece.

EPC shut out at home by surging Rivercrest

Rivercrest's Mike Sellars threw a one hit gem last Friday in Lepanto as the Colts shutout the EPC Warriors 10-0. Sellars allowed no runs giving up the one hit while walking two and striking out six. His teammates staked him to an early 2-0 lead and he did the rest. Colby Brister walked to open the top of the second inning. Dalton Taylor reached on a fielder's choice as pinch runner Justin Walker was forced out at second base. Taylor stole second base and advanced to third on an error which allowed Allen Walker to reach first base. Ethan Brown plated Taylor and Allen Walker with a triple to right field to put the score at 2-0 Colts. Coy Chipman hit a one out single in the top of the third inning. Chipman advanced to second on a ground out and to third when Dylan Mclemore reached on an error. Brister knocked in both runners with a base hit to make the score 4-0 Rivercrest. The Colts exploded for six runs in the top of the fourth inning. Walker opened the inning with a walk before scoring in front of Brown on an inside the park homerun. Garrett Lane singled and moved to second when Sellers reached on an error. Brister drove both Lane and pinch runner Jon Griffin home with a two out triple. Taylor then drove in Brister with a single. Brandon McLaughlin singled sending Taylor to third. Allen Walker delivered a RBI single scoring Taylor to set the final score. Caleb Harston took the loss for EPC going all five innings giving up 10 runs on 11 hits as he walked four and struck out four. McKenzie Betts had EPC's only hit of the game in the second inning.

Wildcats gain conf. win behind Maxwell's effort

Truamnn picked up a 4A-3 conference win over Highland this past Tuesday at Wildcat Field in Trumann. Nate Maxwell pitched a complete game shutout while recording 12 strikeouts. The Wildcats (13-6, 4-3) got on the board in the bottom of the second inning with Michael Criss hitting a one out single. Criss stole second base before advancing to third when Dylan Dulaney reached on an error by the first baseman. Criss scored when the Rebels pitcher tried to pick him off at third base to give Trumann a 1-0 lead after two innings of play. The game stayed at 1-0 until the bottom of the sixth when Trumann added three runs to set the final score. Nate Maxwell reached base on an error and went to second on a wild throw from the third baseman. A.J. Winningham scored Maxwell with an RBI double. Winningham stole third base and scored when the catcher overthrew his third baseman to make the score 3-0. Justin Liles reached on another Rebel error before Jay Ryan Woods drew a walk to put runners on first and second. Liles scored when the Highland center fielder misplayed the ball hit by Cameron Jones to set the final score. Maxwell worked all seven innings giving up one hit and no walks. Trumann will play next in the semi-finals of the Pioneer Classic in Batesville Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. Trumann is 2-0 thus far with wins over Nemo Vista (8-4) and Bradford (15-0). Jay Ryan Woods got the win over Nemo Vista with Maxwell picking up a save. Zach Vinson hit a two-run home run for the Wildcats. In the Bradford game, Vinson got the win by allowing one hit over the three inning game. Criss had three RBIs with Woods and Winningham both collecting two RBIs on the day.
