Lady Wildcats fall to Westside (High School Sports ~ 01/12/12)
Trumann's Lady Wildcats hosted Westside this past Tuesday and was handed a 52-39 4A-3 conference loss. Kelly Guthrie led Trumann with 12 points as Jazmye Nixon pitched in 10. Trumann lost the junior high game, 43-18. -
Shooting sports program gearing up for season

The Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports program season starts Feb. 1st and runs through June. This is a trap shooting sport sponsored by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. The program is for kids 6th-12th grade. Those in the sixth-eighth grade will compete in the junior division with those in 10th-12th will compete in the senior division. Teams will compete in the district and state levels. There will be a meeting a 6 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Trumann Missionary Baptist Church in the fellowship hall. Anyone in the mentioned grades is invited to attend. Those wishing to participate will need to have a parent or guardian present. Sign-ups set at Lepanto
(High School Sports ~ 01/12/12)
The Lepanto Sport Complex Youth League will have sign-ups for 2012 t-ball, coach pitch, machine pitch, baseball and softball. The sign-ups will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12 and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14 at the EPC cafeteria.

Players of the Month recognized (High School Sports ~ 01/12/12)
Trumann's Hannah Walters and Malcolm Washington have been selected as Unico Bank Players' of the Month for December. Deena Collins of Unico Bank presents each with a special editon basketball. -
NEA Tournament Scholarship recipients (High School Sports ~ 01/12/12)
Jaron Snyder of East Poinsett County and Savannah Graham of Rivercrest are the first recipients of the NEA scholarships for $1,000 each. They were presented these scholarships at the recent Northeast Arkansas Invitational Tournament. -
Surge lifts Warriors past Indians

Marked Tree hosted EPC this past Monday night in a 2A-3 conference matchup. The visiting Warriors used a huge third period on their way to a 73-51win. Leading 29-20 at the half, EPC (12-1, 6-0) outscored the Indians (11-5, 7-3) 24-8 to blow open the game at the end of three. Jori Ford scored 20 points to lead EPC. Jammar Sturdivant added 19 and Wendell Pritchett chipped in 17. Allen Buchanan led Marked Tree with 18 points and Thadious Moore scored 12. EPC won the junior high contest, 47-31.

Bay tops RC to stay flawless in league

Bay hosted Ridgefield Christian this past Tuesday night in a 1A-3 East conference match up. The Yellowjackets (18-4, 6-0) led wire to wire on their way to a 65-24 win keeping them perfect in the conference. Bay led 14-8 after the first period before exploding in the second period outscoring the Warriors 22-4 to take a 36-12 half time lead. Bay extended that lead to 58-21 after three periods. Brad Craft led Bay with 16 points. Damien Holt added 13. Bay won the junior high contest 51-9 behind Tyler Pritchett's 13 points.

'Cats split conference games (High School Sports ~ 01/12/12)
Trumann played two 4A-3 conference games this past week winning one and losing one. They posted a non-conference win in between the games. They lost to Pocahontas last Thursday 79-71 in Trumann. The Wildcats downed Harrisburg last Friday 77-54 at Harrisburg before knocking off Valley View 71-56 this past Monday at home. Against Pocahontas, Malcolm Washington had a big night with 31 points and 11 steals. Lee Conatser pitched in 17 while Dylan Dulaney had 10 points and Matt Holt dished out 10 assists for Trumann (12-4). Trumann lost the junior high game, 38-32. Trumann (13-4) got back in the win column as they traveled to Harrisburg and picked up a 77-54 victory. Five Wildcats scored in double figures on the night with Washington leading the way with 15. Nate Maxwell added 12, A.J. Winningham scored 11, Eichii Moore and Westen Gilliam each had 10 on the night. Winnigham pulled down 10 rebounds. Brayden Honeycutt led the Hornets with 18 as Jarred Edwards and Mitchell Eaton both tossed in eight. Trumann won the junior high game, 26-23. Trumann hosted Valley View this past Monday night and came away with a 71-56 4A-3 conference win. Washington had a triple-double for the Wildcats (14-4) as he scored 25 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had 11 blocks on the night. Holt and Dulaney tossed in 17 and 16 points respectively on the night. Trumann's junior high boys posted a 47-27 win.
