Indians notch key conf. win

Allen Buchanan scored 16 points to lead Marked Tree over Walnut Ridge in senior boys' basketball action this past Friday in Marked Tree. Darius Ivy added 14 for the Indians (9-2, 5-2 2A-3) along with Gunner Pitts tossing in 12. Marked Tree won the junior high boys' game, 52-33.

EPC remains spotless in league

EPC stayed undefeated in the 2A-3 conference by downing Marmaduke this past Monday in Lepanto. Jammar Sturivant led the Warriors (5-1, 4-0) with 17 points. Jori Ford added 16 while Wendell Pritchett scored 13. EPC won the junior high game boys' game 54-33.

Lady Cardinals cruise to win

Weiner used a fast start on their way to a 67-48 win over Bay in senior girls' basketball action this past Friday. Weiner (10-7), who led at the end of each quarter, was led in scoring by Peyton Craft's 22 points. Kaci Mack added 17 points for the Lady Cardinals. Bay's Hannah Willard led all scorers with 31 points on the night.

Bay gets past Ridgefield Christian

Bay visited the Warriors of Ridgefield Christian this past Thursday and came away with a 67-57 victory. Gunner Freeman and Hunter Percell both scored 13 to pace Bay on the night. Bay won the junior high boys' game 52-6.

Cardinals downed by Zebras

Weiner hosted Black Rock this past Thursday in 1A-3 East conference matchup. The visitors claimed their first conference win beating the Cardinals 46-37. Taylor Ozbun led Weiner with 12 points on the night.

Lady 'Cats in Classic

Trumann won one of three games they played in the Christmas Classic being held at Brookland. The Lady 'Cats lost to Gosnell this past Friday, 47-43 and then were downed by Rivercrest, 68-48 this past Saturday. The Lady Wildcat righted the ship beating Piggott this past Tuesday, 41-37. Jazmye Nixon led Trumann in scoring against Gosnell and Rivercrest. She netted 18 points against Gosnell and 16 against Rivercrest. Hannah Walters netted 17 to lead Trumann in the win over Piggott. Nixon added 14. The Lady Wildcats will play next in the NEA Invitational held at ASU. The Lady Wildcats will play the Lady Greyhounds of Marmaduke at 10:30 a.m Friday, December 23.

Wildcats on winning streak

Trumann is on a three game win streak and will carry that streak into the NEA Tournament. The Wildcats (8-2, 2-1 4A-3) had victories over Highland, Newport and Brookland in the past week. In the Highland game, five Wildcat players reached double figures as Trumann posted a 77-47 win this past Thursday in Trumann. Lee Conatser led the way for Trumann scoring 20 points. Matt Holt followed him with 17, Malcolm Washington had 14, and Dylan Dulaney and Nate Maxwell each had 10. Washington added 10 rebounds and six blocks on the night. Trumann's junior high boys' lost a double overtime thriller, 39-37. Against Newport, Washington and Maxwell both posted double-doubles to lead Trumann to a 64-57 victory this past Saturday at Newport. Washington had 19 points and 11 rebounds as Maxwell added 15 points and 10 rebounds. Matt Holt and Lee Conatser chipped in 12 and 11 points respectively. In the junior high game, Grayson Dye hit a shot with eight seconds left in the game to send the Junior Wildcats to a 32-31 win. Dye led in scoring with 14 points. Trumann hosted the Brookland Bearcats this past Tuesday in a 4A-3 conference game. The Wildcats had a huge night from Malcolm Washington as Trumann won the battle of the 'Cats, 61-49. Washington scored 29 points while grabbing 13 rebounds in the game. He also added six blocks on the night. Nate Maxwell, Lee Conatser and Matt Holt all added 10 points apiece. Maxwell pulled down 10 rebounds too. The Junior Wildcats lost 40-36 in their game. Grayson Dye scored 12 points to lead Trumann. Trumann will play its first game of the NEA Tournament against Highland on Wednesday, December 21 at 7:30 p.m.

All-Conference 'Cats

Senior Tyler Renshaw and junior Josh Evans were recently selected All-Conference in football for the Trumann Wildcats. Congratulations guys!!
