Trumann officers make several arrests

Ricky Ice Johnson of Trumann was arrested Monday, May 30, on charges of commercial burglary, theft of property, three counts of theft by receiving and fraudulent use of a debit card. Detective Anthony Parker made the arrest. Parker made contact with Johnson after learning he was on Wal-Mart surveillance footage using a stolen debit card. During Johnson's arrest, the victim's debit card was found in Johnson's wallet. Also found were two other individual's debit cards. A subsequent investigation into these offenses led to a search of the residence, which yielded property that was stolen from an automotive shop. A witness stated Johnson broke into the automotive shop, stole the items and stored them at his residence. Angela Marie Donze of Trumann was arrested Thursday, June 2, on charges of theft by receiving and fraudulent use of a debit card, in connection with the Johnson case. Detective Parker observed Donze on surveillance footage at Mapco and Trumann Citgo, using a stolen debit card to make purchases at the locations. Donze was interviewed and admitted to being in possession of the card and making purchases at Mapco, Trumann Citgo and Flash Market. Donze has stated she was in the company of Johnson on the night in question. Johnson and Donze's court dates are both scheduled July 25. Johnson's bail is set at $100,000. Charles Edward Spoon of Trumann was arrested Monday, May 30, on charges of possession of a defaced firearm and possession of a firearm. The arresting officer was Jered Rolland. Trumann police received a call from George's Liquor Store in regards to a man with a gun, and when officers arrived, they found Spoon standing outside the store. After a pat down, it was revealed that Spoon was carrying a pick hammer handle welded onto the working mechanism of what appeared to be a shotgun. Officer Rolland also found another pick hammer handle welded to a barrel of a shogun. Trumann officers were able to piece the items together and assembled a working shotgun. Spoon is a convicted felon and has a court date scheduled for July 25. District Judge Ron Hunter set his bail at $50,000. On Sunday, May 29, Patrolman Jared Cook stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. David Marion Clark of Jonesboro was the driver and when he consented to having his vehicle searched, Cook discovered a stolen handgun, hidden a Clark passenger's purse. Clark admitted to trying to conceal the weapon from Patrolman Cook. The handgun was checked and determined to be stolen from Jonesboro. Clark is a convicted felon and has a court date scheduled for June 27. District Judge Ron Hunter set his bail at $5,000.

Pageants for all ages, a wide variety of games, live music and a street dance were among highlights of Tyronza's ninth annual Stars and Stripes Festival held May 20-21 in downtown Tyronza. Pageant winners were: Baby Miss Queen and Best Dressed -- Kenlea Jade Dawson of Paragould, winner; Ashlyn Caroline Gean of Tyronza, first alternate, and Marlee Nicole Rasdall of Harrisburg, second alternate. Wee Miss Queen and Best Dressed -- Riley Jo Daniel of Tyronza, winner; Kara Leigh Ann Caster of Marked Tree, first alternate, and Ava Grace Harrison of Marked Tree, second alternate. Tiny Miss Queen and Best Dressed -- Brinley Anne Brewer of Tyronza, winner; Kenley Olivia Miller of Lepanto, first alternate, and Gabby Rhea Weathers of Lepanto, second alternate. Little Miss Queen and Best Dressed -- Anna Grace-Marie Lung of Marked Tree, winner; Becca LeeAnn Miller of Lepanto, first alternate, and Madison Claire Brewington of Tyronza, second alternate. Junior Miss Queen and Best Dressed -- Hannah Nicole Lucas of Tyronza, winner; Carie Lee Duncan of Tyronza, first alternate, and Emma Elizabeth Waters of Jonesboro, second alternate. Teen Miss Queen and Best Dressed -- Sydney Elizabeth Jones of Lepanto, winner, and Macayla Brook Bolton of Greenbriar, first alternate. Miss Stars and Stripes Queen and Best Dressed -- Lacey Paige Welch of Tyronza, winner; Amber Lynn Renfro of Lepanto, first alternate, and Kelli Jo Smith of Tyronza, second alternate.
