A familiar face to the people of Trumann and the surrounding area is the new marketing director for the Poinsett County Democrat Tribune.

It was a battle between two ladies teams that know each other quite well: Buffalo Island Central and East Poinsett County. This time, the EPC Lady Warriors prevailed and won the NEA Tournament, 60-53, Friday in Jonesboro.

Several Poinsett County basketball players were named to the lower division All NEA Tournament Team.

East Poinsett County High School earned a repeat championship Friday in the NEA Tournament with another complete team effort over the tournament's surprise team, the Rivercrest Colts, by a score of 72-59.

Marie Catalina Shinabery, owner/operator of Nyal Drug in Marked Tree, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at age 88. She was a member of St Norbert's Catholic Church.

TURRELL - Mr. Clarence Rains, age 70, of Turrell, Ark., died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at the Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

MARKED TREE - Marie Catalina Shinabery, 88, of Marked Tree died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010. She was the owner/operator of Nyal Drug and a member of St. Norbert's Catholic Church.

The Democrat Tribune staff is looking to increase our coverage of Poinsett County, but we need help from the public.

The Trumann Chamber of Commerce met with newly-elected Congressman Rick Crawford last week at Southern Bancorp to discuss the community's goals for the future.
