Mrs. Geneva Geraldine "Gerry" Johnson, of Trumann, died Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at the family residence. She was born in Trumann, Ark., and had lived her lifetime in Trumann.

Mrs. Virginia Fay Lowery Henry, 84, of Tuscumbia, Ala., died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at the family residence.

Jimmy Joe Chaffin Sr., 64, passed away Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at his residence.

Congressman Marion Berry was honored for his service to Arkansas and this area when Southern Bancorp held its 10th annual Farmers Appreciation Dinner Monday night in Trumann.

You know how you have those weeks where absolutely nothing happens? Well, this hasn't been one of them. It started out that way, up until we found out that my mother had to be hospitalized.

The Marked Tree City Council held an emergency meeting Tuesday night, Nov. 30, to vote on two ordinances which concerned contracts. The city council must pass an ordinance to authorize the mayor before he can enter into a contract.

Marked Tree Mayor Dixon Chandler announced Wednesday, Dec. 1, that the city of Marked Tree received a $100,000 matching grant for playground equipment.

Most people have no idea what someone with dementia or Alzheimer's is really going through. But a program held at Three Rivers Nursing Home in Marked Tree aimed at giving people an idea of what having dementia feels like.

Trumann beat Harrisburg in their first round game of the Pre-Holiday tournament at Trumann. The Wildcats won 57-15.
