Mildred Norene Gaskin, 83, of Lake City died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007 at her home. She was born Feb. 19, 1924 in Cross County. She married Chester Gaskins on Sept. 30, 1943 and they enjoyed 64 years together before his death on July 11, 2007. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of God in Harrisburg. She loved sewing and quilting...

The Bank of Trumann held its seventh annual Farmer's Appreciation Banquet Monday night at the Trumann Recreation Building. Mike Cone, attorney with Lyons, Emerson and Cone was the featured speaker for the event. Cone addressed the group of approximately 125 area farmers and spoke on the ramifications of the new farm bill now under discussion in Congress. Andy Kelley, 101 Spruce, was arrested on Nov. 24 by Ptl. Jonathan Schmidt and charged with possession of a controlled substance (meth) with intent to deliver. According to reports, Kelly was stopped for speeding on Hwy 463 South. After consent to search his vehicle was received, two baggies of white powder were found under the front seat. The total weight of the substance was almost six grams...

WE WON!! Last Tuesday, my husband, James, and I went to the Christmas Tree Plantation and cut down our Christmas tree. This has become one of my favorite holiday traditions for us. I always get so excited wandering around among the trees trying to find the one that is just right. This year I even paid attention to how tall the trees were and picked one that fit in my living room...
