Dr. Charles Glenn Swingle, formerly of Marked Tree, died July 21, 2007 in Heber Springs. He was born in Memphis, Tenn. on October 13, 1927, the son of Charles Glenn Swingle, Sr.. of Rock Island, Ill.. He grew up in Earle, Arkansas, the son of Irma St. Clair Swingle Beasley and William Lee Beasley. He graduated from Earle high School in 1944 and attended Southwestern College (now Rhodes College) in Memphis where his studies were interrupted by service in the army...

If you haven't heard, Mike Coolbaugh, a coach for the Colorado Rockies, was struck in the head with a line-drive ball hit by Tino Sanchez of the Arkansas Travelers. According to police, Coolbaugh was alive when he was placed into an ambulance and transported to Baptist Medical Center. He was pronounced dead on arrival, however...
