Trumann teenager Gary Wayne Henry, Jr. died Tuesday, May 15 after spending more than a week on life support at Children's Hospital in Little Rock. Henry, 17, was hospitalized following after nearly drowning in Lake Norfork on Sunday, May 6. Henry was at the lake swimming with friends when he was overcome with exhaustion. Friends tried to keep him afloat until help arrive. Eventually they pulled him to the shore and performed CPR until an ambulance finally arrived...

With the turning of their tassels, the Trumann High School class of 2007 officially made the transition from student to alumni Friday night. Joseph C. Wheeler, 513 Harrison, was arrested on May 14 by Chief Larry Blagg, Asst. Chief Tony Rusher, Det. Jerry Foster, Ptl. Paul Keith, Ptl. Dale Parker, Ptl. Glen Smith and Sgt. Lenny Becker. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drugs and weapons...

Trumann Mayor Sheila Walters swore in a whole Cedar Park grade as junior aldermen. The lucky students were all fourth graders at Cedar Park Elementary. The mayor presented a short program to each class informing them what a mayor does, what city council members do and what happens at city council meetings. The students then all stood, raised their right hand and were sworn in as junior aldermen...

Maple Grove EHC met May 14 in the church fellowship center with nine members present. Lunch was served before the meeting was called to order by president Sherry Shaw. The thought of the week, "Volunteer or Drafter," was read by Sherry Shaw. The inspiration, a poem "State of Mind," was read by Lorene Sadler...

Matthew Rouse, 44, of Jonesboro, formerly of Trumann, died Monday, May 21, 2007 from injuries sustained in a fall in Jonesboro. He was born in Trumann and had lived in Wynne before moving to Jonesboro in 1984. He was a 1980 graduate of Trumann High School.
