J.E. McDaniel, 78, of Rose Care Garden Care Center in Peoria Heights, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006 at Methodist Medical Center. He was born Dec. 25, 1927 in Tupolo, Miss. to Emmitt and Alma Fox McDaniel. He was married to Elcie Goff for 30 years...

Mrs. Evelynn Jones Higdon, 85, of Trumann died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006 at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis. She was born in Webster County in Mississippi, and she had lived most of her lifetime in Trumann. Mrs. Higdon was a former employee of the City of Trumann, member of the Eastern Star and a member of the Corners Chapel Baptist Church in Payneway...

Kim Fagan, 524 Whitlatch, was arrested on Aug. 4 by Det. Jonathan Skaggs and charged with the following felonies - theft by receiving, forgery and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to police reports a search warrant was served on Fagan's residence. Items stolen from a burglary on another residence on Whitlatch were recovered.
