Lady Cats start slow on the softball season

Trumann began the quest for a repeat of their 3AAA District Championship last week and came out on the short end going 0-3 in three non-conference games. Monday the Lady Wildcats opened the season at home with a 2-0 loss to Riverside. "We only allowed them two hits," coach Brian Haynes said later. "But they made them count. We got some hits, but couldn't do anything with them. Most of the time they seemed to be right where we hit the ball and we never did get any real solid hits."...

Trumann hosted EPC in their home opener last Monday afternoon and evened their record at 2-2 with a 4-3 victory in 10 innings. "EPC is a good team," coach Scott Brown said the next day. "Defensively I though we played well." Wayne Clements opened on the mound, going four innings. In that time, he gave up one earned run on four hits while walking four and striking out three.
