Lepanto ladies organize red hat society

Hats off to a group of motivated ladies in Lepanto. They officially organized a Lepanto chapter of the Red Hat Society on Jan. 21. The chapter will be called the Lamp City Red Hatters. Red hat members must be fifty years "young." However, ladies younger than 50 may also participate. Members 50 and older known as "red hatters" wear red hats and purple clothing while members under 50 called "pink hatters" wear pink hats and lavender clothing...

MT Rotary Club banquet is Feb. 4

Lepanto City Council accepts budget for 2006

The city's budget as well as plans to purchase a new fire truck were main topics of discussion at the Lepanto City Council meeting last Tuesday. Mayor Dale Dunlap addressed the council about the ordinance proposed to accept the budget for 2006 for the city of Lepanto. Several of the budget allotments were questioned by Alderman Charles Mahan. Author and former Marked Tree resident Tom Graves has released another book entitled "From Sunday Conversations: Sermons and Prayers for All Seasons." Graves is also the author of "From Marked Tree to Red Arc," a story that skillfully and quite colorfully recounts a number of events he remembers about life as youngster in Marked Tree, many of which center around his father, Guy Graves.
