Luvicie Ingle, 97, of Cabot died May 4, 2004 at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton. Ingle, formerly of Tyronza, was a homemaker of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband Dolphus Ingle of Tyronza. Burton Henry "Buddy" Adams, 75, of Lepanto died Wednesday, May 5. A Marine veteran of World War II, he was a retired farmer and a member of the American Legion and Etowah Pentecostal Church of God. Survivors include his wife, Pearline Adams of Lepanto; a son, Buddy Junior Adams of Lepanto; a daughter, Patricia Hendrix of Lepanto; two grandchildren, Ronda Kaye Worsham of Wilson and Whitney Elise Adams of Dallas; and three great-grandchildren...

Billy Huff, 71, of Marked Tree died Thursday, May 6, at his residence. He was retired from the Air Force and was a member of the United Pentecostal Church at Lepanto. Survivors include his wife, Mable E. Huff of Marked Tree; two sons, Jimmy Huff of Marked Tree and David Huff of Stafford, Va.; three daughters, Angela Prentice of Columbia, Tenn., Nancy Maier of Stafford and Martha O'Brien of Redwood City, Calif.; two brothers, Melvin Huff of Atlanta and Arnold Huff of Texarkana; a sister; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.. ...

The Marked Tree Police Department announced the arrest of a Trumann man last Friday, on a warrant for Delivery of Marijuana. According to Det. Mark Robinson of the MTPD, Billy Joe Morgan, 32, of Trumann was arrested as a result of an investigation by the Arkansas State Police into illegal drug activity in Poinsett County in 2002...

Both Marked Tree High School and East Poinsett County High School are gearing up to graduate the class of 2004. MTHS will hold its graduation ceremony at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 14 at the High School Auditorium. Forty-two seniors will receive their diplomas. Valedictorian for the class is Kasey Frans and salutatorian is Payton Walker. Distinguished honor graduates are Kimberly Collins, Morgan Hamilton, Kristi Houchin, Ann Webb and Matthew Woods. With no major items on the agenda in last Monday night's meeting, the Marked Tree City Council meeting was short and to the point. An open agenda gave council members an opportunity to discuss the city's future and discuss opportunities Mayor Lawrence Ashlock presented the city's financial reports in the absence of city clerk/treasurer Pam Wright. Ashlock reported that things are looking up for the city financially. Sales tax for the last few months have been consistently over $20,000...

The East Poinsett County School Board voted 5-2 Monday night to approve letting an architect draw up a set of plans for a building project at the school. According to Supt. Mickey Pierce, he attended a facilities studies project meeting recently in Little Rock, where a discussion over improving facilities in each of Arkansas' schools was discussed...

While not participating in a full track season, several members of the Marked Tree track team finished in the top echelon of the district track meet, held last Thursday at Paragould. Under coach Tim Branum, seven members of the team finished either second or third in the meet, which allows team members to compete against several more established programs. ...
