Teams from the Tri-Cities area recently were selected in the seeding process for the 2003 Northeast Arkansas Invitational Tournament that will be held at Arkansas State University in late December. In a coaches meeting, held last Wednesday in Jonesboro, Class AAAAA Blytheville and Class AA BIC were selected as the top seeds in the boys division, while Class AAA Valley View and Class AA Bay were selected as the top seeds in the girls division...

Going into last weekend's basketball tournament, the East Poinsett County senior boys basketball team were 1-0 on the year, defeating area rival Marked Tree last week. However, the Warriors got a test this weekend, as they defeated the number one teams in Class AA and AAAA on their way to capture the Mountain Home Shootout basketball tournament...

Ada Mae Boxley, 101, of Marked Tree died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at Three Rivers Nursing Center in Marked Tree. A charter member of Marked Tree Garden Club, she was a master judge for the Arkansas Garden Club, a volunteer cook for the Marked Tree Lions Club and a member of First United Methodist Church in Marked Tree...
