Fireman Earnie Link recently spoke to seniors at the Trumann Senior Life Center. He spoke to the group about the importance of fire safety. He asked everyone if they had smoke detectors and if they did, do they know how to check to see if it is properly working. He informed the group that smoke detectors need to be placed near the kitchen and near bedrooms. He also told the group that changing the batteries every time the time changes will insure that the batteries are always good...

At its last regular meeting on Nov. 12, the Trumann City Council approved a rezoning ordinance and hired a city attorney. The council approved the ordinance changing five residential (R-2) lots to commercial (C-2) at the request of Trumann residents Ken Stockton and Larry Holden. The lots are located on Cross Avenue...

Bay Mayor Linda Watts communicated to the Bay City Council at its regular meeting on Nov. 11 that the city had received a bulldozer. A personal guard and debris retainer was installed above the blade and the dozer was serviced and repainted to prepare it for the city's use...

Sav-A-Lot in Trumann welcomes new manager, Doug Osburn, to the store. Osburn has been managing the store for the last seven weeks. He transferred to this store from a manager position at the Farmers Market in Leacheville. Osburn, who currently lives in Cardwell, Mo., is moving to Trumann with his wife, Judy, this weekend...

Wanda L. Pulliam, 65, of Trumann died Nov. 13 at Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro of natural causes. Pulliam was born in Caraway. She had lived in Los Angeles, Calif. before moving back to Trumann five years ago. She was a homemaker and a Protestant. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents, Jack and Edna Murphy Trucks...

Carl Eugene Dils, 44, of Trumann died Nov. 12 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro of natural causes. Dils was born in South Bend, Ind. He had lived in Trumann for the past year having moved from Michigan. He was a carpenter, veteran of the U.S. Navy and of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Eugene and Genie Hathaway Dils...

Bettie A. Farley, 85, of Trumann died Nov. 14 at the Rose Care Nursing Center in Trumann of natural causes. She was born in Greenfield, Miss. She is survived by Bettie L. Farley of Mesa, Ariz.; one sister, Nancy Stinson of Trumann and June Skarie of North Dakota...

NEWPORT - The Trumann Wildcats (6-5) were kept from advancing to the second round of the state football playoffs by a field goal here Friday night. The Newport Greyhounds (9-2) defeated the Cats 25-22 after two overtimes in Class AAA action.
