The Trumann Public Library received two new computers for public use. The computers were made available through the $1.7 million 21st Century Community Learning Center Grants for three years. The library was eligible to benefit from the grant due to part of the grant is focused on adult education. The computers are also available for use by children, when monitored by a parent or guardian. The computers are available in the afternoon from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday...

On Oct. 10 Valley View defeated Bay 13-15, 15-12 and 15-10 in junior high volleyball action. For Bay, Lindsey Webb made four kills, dished out six assists, made 26 digs, had two aces and went eight for nine serving. Mr. Robert Wayne Meeker died Tuesday, October 15, 2002, of natural causes. He was 68 years old. Mr. Meeker was born in Trumann on May 2, 1934, and was a lifetime resident Trumann. He was a retired farmer and carpenter and attended the First General Baptist Church in Trumann. He was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers and was the son of the late Luther and Bessie Toney Meeker...

The Wildcat football team plays the Piggott Mohawks at Piggott Friday night. The Wildkitten football team plays the EPC Warriors at Lepanto Thursday night.

At Bay's City Council meeting on Oct. 14, Sondra Onstead and Vickie Davis reported on the results of the 2002 Harvest Festival. The festival broke even in finances. Onstead and Davis expressed appreciation for the city's help and considered the Parents Helping Teachers' (PHT) first year of handling the Festival as a "learning experience." Harry Truman Moore of Paragould presented the program at the weekly meeting of the Trumann Lions Club. Moore spoke on Child Support Laws in Arkansas.
