BYLTHEVILLE - Citing "an opportunity to extend our special brand of community banking," First Delta Bankshares, Inc., Chairman and Chief Executive Jerry T. Sims announced that the Bank of Trumann is now a part of the multi-bank holding company, which also owns First National Bank in Blytheville and Manila. Effective August 30, the acquisition raised the total assets of the combined banks to nearly $300 million...

The Bay senior high and junior high volleyball teams are adjusting well to their new coach. "We've played well and we're practicing hard," Coach Kristi Colbert said of her senior high team. "They're giving a great team effort and they're pulling together. They've responded well to me. We've all responded well to each other."...

Trumann's senior high volleyball roster consists of five seniors - four of whom are returning senior starters. For Trumann, Perry Heavener dashed for a 20-yard touchdown and Justin Elliott connected with Nathan Tolbert for a 60-yard touchdown pass. Mrs. Florence Virginia Taylor died Monday, September 9, at the Carroll County Nursing and Rehab Center in Berryville, Ark., of natural causes. She was 98 years old. Mrs. Taylor was born in Montgomery, Tenn., on December 23, 1903, and had lived in Berryville for the past four years and was formerly of California. ...

Nina Glenda Methvin, 88, of Collierville, Tenn. Died Saturday, Sept. 14 at her son's residence in Collierville, Tenn. of natural causes. She was born in Cooter, Missouri and had lived most of her life in Trumann before moving to Collierville, Tenn. three years ago. She was a retired teacher for the Trumann public school system, member of the Delta Kappa Gamma, 20th Century Club and the First United Methodist Church in Trumann...

Marilyn Ann Clem, 58, of Trumann died Saturday, Sept. 14 at the family residence in Trumann of natural causes. She was born in and was a lifetime resident of Trumann. She was a dietician for Plantation Nursing Center in Trumann and of the Baptist faith...
