EPC travels to DeWitt, for big battle Friday

With a season-opening win versus area rival Marked Tree last week, the EPC Warriors this week make a 3 1/2 hour drive to Arkansas County Friday night, to face the DeWitt Dragons of the 6AAA District. The Dragons, who lost to Dermott last week, finished 2-8 last year, under coach Paul Wilson, but return 19 seniors on the team that plays its district games against the likes of Brinkley, Lonoke and Pulaski Academy in the competitive 6AAA district. ...

With a season-opening loss to area rival EPC last Friday, the Marked Tree Indians now turn their attention to district play this Friday night. The Indians travel to Salem to face the Greyhounds, who suffered a 22-8 loss last Friday at Thayer, Mo. Ford discusses senior citizen issues

Bernard T. Ford, Jr. of the Silver Haired Legislature spoke at the Marked Tree Senior Life Center Tuesday about bills in Congress affecting senior citizens. One bill that has been introduced would exempt taxes on a used car costing $3,000 or less. Ford said the bill would also exclude the first $3,000 from taxes for a used car costing more than $3,000. Tyronza City Council approves water ordinances during meeting

The Tyronza City Council voted to approve two key water ordinances, in its meeting Tuesday night. The council voted 4-0 to approve a Wellhead Protection Amendment, concerning the water department. The amendment, recommended by the Arkansas Water Association, calls for the approval of a Wellhead Protection District as well as looking into an Emergency Water Action Plan for the city, in case of a natural or manmade disaster. ...

Home Oil Company comes to Tyronza

The old Norcross Store, just outside of Tyronza, has a new tenant. The Home Oil Company, based in Osceola, decided to open a satellite store in Tyronza after the closing of the Marked Tree Co-op. Home Oil hopes to be a convenience to the farmers and the citizens in the area. The store stocks seed and chemicals and will sell other products in the near future...

EPC picks up win versus Blytheville

It was a week of firsts for the EPC volleyball program this week. The team is led by first-year coach Gary Williams and last Thursday, they picked up their first ever win in the program's history and the win was against AAAAA team Blytheville.
