Woman dies in house fire

The sound of the tornado sirens woke many Trumann residents on Tuesday night, April 2. While there was no tornado something equally as terrible was happening. At 10:57 pm a 991 call was received in reference to a house fire. Trying to page out the firemen two police dispatchers, who were unfamiliar with the fire radios, set off the tornado sirens while trying to reach the fire department. Relay for Life slated in April

This year will mark the second year that Trumann has hosted the Relay for Life. Money raised from the event will go towards cancer research. Teams of eight to 15 members are organized to walk in the event. It will take place April 26 and 27. It will start at 7 p.m. April 26 and will end at 7 a.m. April 27. It will take place on the walking track at the Sports Complex. Each person on the team must raise $100. Donations are based on participation not the number of miles or laps walked...

Funding allows more possibilities for students

Trumann Public Schools has approximately 1,685 students in attendance for the 2002-2003 school year. This is a decrease from previous years. The school employs 131 certified personnel. Superintendent Joe Waleszonia stated that a goal of the school is, "better attendance and better test scores."
