Mr. Franklin D. Prichard, Sr., 68, died Tuesday Jan. 1, 2002 at the family residence in Qulin, Mo., of natural causes. Leonard Grimes, 83, of 152 Melton Ave., Trumann, died Monday, Dec. 31, at his residence. Born in Ravenden Springs, he had lived most of his life in the Trumann area. He was retired from the Singer Co. and was a member of the Melton Avenue Church of Christ. ...

Mrs. Estelle Lois Brooks, 88, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro of natural causes. Mrs. Brooks was born Jan. 8, 1914 in Carthage, Miss and had lived in Trumann or the last 50 years. She was a housewife and a member of the Eastside Baptist Church in Trumann. Democrat Editor The Trumann City Council voted against another liquor license at its Jan. 8 meeting. Caroline's Quick Shop, 350 North Ozark, is the latest business that could obtain a liquor license without the council's approval. The council voted 8-1 to recommend to the state Alcohol Beverage Commission (ABC) to deny a liquor permit to the Trumann business...

Democrat Editor Trumann nearly made the third time the charm Friday night. After back-to-back losses to Valley View this season, the Wildcats (3-9) held a two-point lead late in the fourth quarter, but fell 53-51. "We made a few mistakes and against a team like Valley View you just can't make mistakes," Trumann head coach Gary McClung said. "They're scrappy and get after it. They make few mistakes.
