First on the agenda was to put the finishing touches on the Marked Tree Delta Cotton Pickin' Jubilee, scheduled for Saturday Sept. 29, at Cypress Park-Horse Arena. A list of scheduled events was accepted and released. Events include horseshoe tournament, arts and crafts booths and food booths, Arkansas Game and Fish aquarium, powwow, Blue Ann Ewe, quilt show, antique car and truck show, motorcycle show, Ridge Rider Band, storytelling and exhibit by Village Creek State Park, pony rides, Ronald McDonald Show, rubber ducky race, Indian games and exhibit by Parkin Archeological State Park, music by Carol Dabney, barbeque cook- off, Friends of Library $100 cash drawing, History of Marked Tree Carnival, and first aid station.. ...

Lt. Col. Jerry Lynn Watson Sr. of Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of Marked Tree, died Sunday, Sept. 2. Visitation will be at the Murphy Funeral Home Chapel in Marked Tree from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (today).

Jimmy Ray Luster, 65, of Killeen, Texas, died Saturday, Sept. 1, at his home.

He was a graduate of Marked Tree High School and moved to Jonesboro in 1954. Mr. Luster was active in the Arkansas National Guard before entering the United States Army. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam.
