The secret of Trumann as a great place to visit and live is getting out to people all over the country as part of an advertising effort approved at a special meeting of the Trumann Industrial Development Commission in May of this year. Wilburn J. Cole, 73, of Harrisburg, died Wednesday, July 11, at the St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro following a brief illness. Cole was chairman of the board of the Bank of Trumann and had spent his entire adult life in banking, having also worked at the Bank of Harrisburg and Citizens Bank of Jonesboro. He was a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University...

Duck Numbers Down - researchers blame dry conditions in key breeding areas

MEMPHIS, July 9, 2001 - In its annual report on breeding duck numbers and May habitat conditions, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service revealed a population decrease in nine of the ten most common duck species. Estimates suggest that despite an 18 percent increase in pond numbers on the breeding grounds, the total number of breeding ducks declined by 14 percent, falling from 42 million birds in 2000 to 36.1 million in 2001...

Bobby Brown reported the theft of a pink Roadmaster MT Sport SX (the back of the seat had a small rip) and an 18-speed purple Roadmaster (also with a small rip in the cushion)...

I hate thieves. They are the lowest vermin on the face of the earth. Not unlike the common cockroach, they are never there when the lights come on, but as soon as the darkness descends, so also do they. It would seem we have a really bad amount of thievery going on around here. It may be that these scumbags need money for their drugs. I don't know. And I don't care...
