Does Your Pet Suffer From Springtime Allergies?
With spring rapidly approaching so are allergies. Many cats and dogs can suffer from springtime seasonal allergies just like us human. Many pets are allergic to grasses, pollen, molds and trees.
Some of the common signs associated with seasonal allergies are: Itching and scratching on the belly or sides of their body, licking their paws or legs, chewing their paws or legs, shaking of the head and/or ears, rubbing their back under tables and chairs, scratching at the ears, discharge from the ears, hair loss due to scratching, itching or chewing, red rash on the belly and smelly dry skin.
If your pet is exhibiting any of these signs you need to visit your veterinarian to get started on treatment for allergies. If left untreated your pet can develop a nasty bacterial skin or ear infection. Allergies can be controlled most of the time, but usually do not go away or get better without a multi-step treatment plan from your veterinarian.
