Not That You Asked
The best thing all of us can do during this Corona Virus outbreak is just use our common sense, and stop listening to voices from the far left and right. This will be over in a matter of weeks, and if you don't take my advice you're going to feel foolish later.
Unless you are elderly, and have other health problems, if you get the virus, it will probably, at worst, be like a bad case of flu. My problem is that statistically I'm an elderly person, but I don't feel old. And anybody that knows me can swear that I don't act my age, even when I should.
Even if you aren't elderly, you probably have elderly grandparents or parents that you come in contact with. While you may not be worried about yourself, you have to consider what could happen to them if you came in contact with someone with the virus. I know that putting other people first is not the American way right now, but it should be.
Don't go to the store or any other place where you might be in a crowd unless it is necessary. Besides, with the toilet paper shortage, you may have another use for those dollars you were going to spend.
When you come home from somewhere, wash your hands. That is just as effective as using sanitizer. If you cough or sneeze, do it into your elbow. don't shake hands, even if you are a politician. These simple steps, that we should be doing anyway, will not only help protect you from the virus, but also from colds and the flu.
While it is important to keep up with the news about the virus, please avoid the nut jobs on the left and right. And don't believe anything you find on social media. This virus is not another "Black Death" that almost wiped out Europe in the Middle Ages. No matter how long this lasts, or how many deaths happen, it probably won't be as dangerous as the flu is every year.
On the other hand, this isn't just another form of the common cold. You shouldn't ignore the advice of medical professionals, especially if you interact with elderly people. The simple truth is that for most of us, it isn't as bad as some would make it seem, but it also isn't something to ignore.
The Corona Virus is not a left wing plot to make the President look foolish. Nobody has to do anything to make the President look foolish. He does a fine job of that every time he opens his mouth.
And let's stop blaming the media for covering the story. It's a big story, so they are going to cover it. It isn't the media's fault that it is spreading so rapidly. It isn't the media's fault that the government response was so slow. If you want to blame somebody, blame the Chinese. That's where the virus started, and the Chinese government kept it quiet, and even tried to hide it.
Finally, please, please, please don't fall for the virus "cures" being hawked by Jim Bakker and Alex Jones. Bakker should know better. He's already done time for one scam. Maybe there's an inmate he left behind that he wants to get back to. As for Jones, his claim to fame is that he tried to convince people that the Sandy Hook School shooting was fake. He went so far as to claim that the pictures of dead children were really actors faking being dead. These two clowns should be selling used cars somewhere.
However, I can end on a high note. Every one of Arkansas' Congressmen voted for the House bill to combat the virus. I try to point it out when they do the right thing, since it happens so rarely. Now the bill goes to the Senate, where Mitch McConnell can either bury it like he has with everything else the House has sent him, or he can put it up for a vote. Then it will be time for Tom Cotton to do the right thing, if he can take time off from running for President in 2024.
