Not Than You Asked
This is a plea to everyone out there who believes that the number one priority this year is voting President Trump out of office. Don't pull the same stunt that the Bernie supporters pulled in 2016, when they refused to cast a ballot for President because he wasn't the nominee. I don't care who you support right now, or even what your party affiliation is, because that isn't important. What is important is that we all join together in November to remove that malignant growth in the Oval Office.
Unfortunately, Democrats haven't done us any favors in giving us a stellar group of candidates to choose from. Both Bernie and Warren are too far to the left for most voters. If either gets the nomination, Donald Trump can stay in the White House, never do a thing, and enjoy a second term.
If Mayor Pete were not a gay man, he would be running away with the nomination. He's an outsider, just like Carter, Clinton, and Obama were. He is a moderate, and a veteran. While his sexuality shouldn't matter, it will. I just don't believe that voters in fly over country are ready to accept a First Man.
Biden appeared to be the one to give Trump a battle, but he hasn't shown much yet. He also has a long history of having a mouth and brain that don't seem to recognize each other. Also, even though the conspiracy theories about his son and Ukraine have all been debunked, that won't stop Trump and FOX News from repeating them every day as fact.
That leaves one candidate who has a real chance against Trump--Mike Bloomberg. Besides his money, Bloomberg can unnerve Trump because he is everything that Trump wishes he was, and claims he is. Bloomberg is accepted by New York, while Trump is considered a joke. Bloomberg is a real self made billionaire. Trump inherited his wealth, and started his company with a loan from his father. Most importantly, Bloomberg is worth more than 50 Billion, while Trump is worth just over three billion.
Those things will drive Trump crazy. He won't be able to bring his A game to the fight. All Bloomberg has to do to win every debate is whisper a taunt in Trump's ear when they shake hands at the beginning. Whisper something like, "I'm a lot richer than you" or "My plane is bigger than yours". Trump will totally lose it. By the end of the debate, he'll be babbling incoherently.
The one threat to Bloomberg is interference from the politically correct crowd. These are the people who demand that you must be absolutely pure in word and deed for every second of your life, past, present, and future. The "PC Police" have a zero tolerance policy toward anyone who ever strays from its perception of what is correct, whether it was meant to offend, or wasn't.
The "PC Police" are after Bloomberg because of the "Stop and Frisk" policy the police followed while he was Mayor. Under the policy, police could stop and search anyone they considered suspicious. The policy was declared unconstitutional because it targeted mainly black and Latino young men. Bloomberg has apologized for it.
But, of course, that isn't enough for the "PC Police". It doesn't matter that the policy was ended, or that Bloomberg apologized. It doesn't matter that the murder rate in New York dropped by 45% under the policy. It doesn't matter that a large amount of illegal guns and drugs were taken off of the streets. The only thing that matters to them is that Bloomberg did something that someone else was offended by.
We all have the right to be treated decently, and to be allowed to go as far as our abilities will take us. We don't have the right to never be offended, or hear something that we don't like. It is way past time for the "PC Police to figure that out.
No matter how offensive "Stop and Frisk" may seem to you, it pales when compared to the offensive things President Trump does today, and will continue to do as long as he is President. You have to aske yourself, is the offense I feel for "Stop and Frisk" worth four more years of President Trump?
